new stuff and recent changes

 • Adventure Dismountable & 5th Wheeler Club - a new link but not a new club. The Adventure Club was initially set up among owners of North Star 'Adventure' demountables, imported by Niche Marketing many years ago, but now apparently welcomes owners of all makes of demountable and fifth-wheel. It's on the forums and groups page.

 • loading and unloading - a brand new page offering guidance and techniques for the successful and safe loading and unloading of a demountable camper. You can find it here.

 • where-rv-now.com - Teresa Petrykowski and Sterling Udell's blog. Although out of date, it was written between 2002 and 2005, it includes useful material and interesting experience from this couple who lived and travelled full-time in their demountable. The link is on the odds and sods page.

 • breakers, salvagers and dismantlers - caravan and motorhome breakers - a useful link for those building their own demountable and looking to save money. It's on the build-your-own/sources of materials page.

 • '1964 Truck Campers' - a splendid article, and an insight into camper design at the time, from Popular Science magazine courtesy of Google books. You can find the link among the items of historical interest.

 • afzetunits.be - Belgium's first appearance on this website - you see, it's not just chocolates and Jacques Brel! It's on the European manufacturers/importers page.

 • AnGib - Andrew Gibbens' site offers pdf and CAD downloads of plans for four different pop-up truck camper designs. You can find a link and description on the self-builders plans page.

 • kommst-du-mit-zu-bishi.de - the few photos on Jochen Sprenger's German blog are a useful reminder of how badly things can go if a camper's tie-down system is not appropriately designed or fixed. It's alarming stuff! The link's on the odds and sods page.

 • Reimo - a new link to the renowned online Reimo catalogue of parts, materials and equipment for self-builders. You can find it here.

Thanks are due to PeeJay from the Motorhome Facts forum (see forums and groups) for the following two links ...

 • exkab.de - German manufacturer ExKab are trying to fill the niche between expedition vehicles and motorhomes.

 • wagner-kunststofftechnik.de - Wagner, also German, produce a more 'conventional' range of coachbuilt demountable campers.

You can find them both on the European manufacturers page.

 • about - not really a new page, in that it contains no new information, but the 'about' and 'contact' sections of the s.a.D home page are now on a page of their own in an attempt to reduce the amount of scrolling up and down when moving around the site. The about page is here.

 • www.massif.iveco.com - I've included Iveco's challenge to the Landrover on the pickup manufacturers page but, as far as I know, no demountable manufacturer is producing a camper for it yet.

 • www.siamax.com - Siamax fabricate aluminium flat-bed conversions for most of the popular pickups. Of potential interest to self-builders, you can find their link here.

snapshots - previews of external links enable you to decide whether a link to a site is likely to be of interest without having to open it. They're available on all the pages where you see this logo in the right-hand column. To see a preview, simply shift your cursor over the 'speech bubble' to the right of the link, e.g. s.a.D's home page. If you prefer not to to see the SnapShots at all click on the 'disable' option in the upper right corner of any preview window, or simply avoid the 'bubbles'.

 • s.a.D guestbook - resurrection of the s.a.D guestbook which was on the site last year but got very little use. The website's receiving much more traffic now though so its reintroduction seems timely. You can access it through the contact info.

"Ads by Google" - this is a bit of an experiment really. Hopefully the ads will be a helpful and interesting addition to the site rather than an intrusive one. According to Google, their relevance to the context of the site (and therefore their helpfulness and interest) should improve over time.

 • demountable insurance - finally the long-promised page on the complexities of finding insurance for a demountable is online. You can find it here.

added 16/03/2010

 • www.ukcampsite.co.uk - the COLIM is a German project that has been featured on a number of websites including UKcampsite. Designed by Christian Susana and described on one site as being a "cross between a fifth wheel caravan, a demountable motorhome and a normal caravan and car", it's on the odds and sods page

 • vintage stuff - an entirely new page which, as its name suggests, brings together vintage material from a variety of sources and, hopefully, offers some insights into the history of truck campers. You can find it here.

 • www.azalai.co.uk - a link to the UK branch of the French parent company. You'll find them in the UK listings on the European manufacturers page.

 • www.neneoverland.co.uk - not really a new link but Nene Overland, in the same UK listing, have recently changed their agency. You can find them here.

 • www.phoenixcampers.com - not a new company (far from it!) but a new link. Phoenix campers are custom built by Coyote RV. They're in the US manufacturers listing.
